Book thief librarian is sentenced. Now, I don't know about you, but if I was going to steal rare books from the library that employed me and then sell them on Ebay (not that I would ever countenance such a thing of course), I would probably make sure that they didn't still have the library's seal on them. Or at least, you know, make sure it wasn't visible in the Ebay pictures. Maybe he assumed that everyone in the market for the books would be as unscrupulous about their provenance as he was...
Just bought (well, ordered) our pushchair! I don't usually get very excited about buying consumer goods (even shoes, once the thrill of the chase is over), but I am thrilled about the pushchair for some reason. I think it's because it's practically the only thing we've acquired for the baby that we've actually chosen ourselves (apart from which brand of nappy to get). Everything else has either been from Freecycle (moses basket, rocker chair, baby swing, clothes), inherited from/bought by parents and in-laws (blankets, clothes, lambskin), or donated by friends (changing mat, baby carrier, more nappies). It's not that I'm not hugely grateful for the stuff that has fallen into our laps - and in fact we haven't paid for the pushchair ourselves either - but I must admit I've been feeling a certain urge to express myself as a parent, even if it's in the shallowest possible way: through accessories.
