[Warning: if you don't like/care about
The Archers, or don't know what The Archers is - that should cover, ooh, all of you then - you may want to skip to the end of this post where there is Exciting News. If you know the news already you can skip the whole lot, obviously.]

Personally, I love The Archers. It's sort of crept up on me, to be honest, over the last few years of not having a television. I think when I had a telly I probably watched Hollyoaks and then stared vacantly into space thinking about what to have for dinner until 7.15. So the narrow Archers time slot was never really there for the taking. Nowadays, the radio is on almost constantly, and (worryingly) I am usually in at 7.00. And if I'm not, then there's the Sunday omnibus (much like Hollyoaks) and the chances of me being out at 10am on a Sunday are even smaller. In brief, I have been a victim of passive Archering, and have in the process become addicted. It's a great soap, chiefly because each episode only lasts 15 minutes which doesn't strain even my short attention span. BUT, there are some things that just don't work on radio. Excited though I am by the prospect of Oliver finally making an honest woman of Caroline, I found the dramatisation of her trip to buy a wedding outfit with Shula incredibly frustrating. 'Ooh no, I look like Whistler's mother' [what?! how?], 'what about this one?' 'ohhh, now that's lovely, let me try it on'. Arrgh! What do the dresses look like? It's worse than trying to imagine John Archer fatally driving a tractor into a ditch, which tragic event marked the start of my Archers listening in 1998. Ooh, maybe the website will show me Caroline's shopping bag... [checks] ...no. Probably best.

Right. Now the news bit: as some of you already know/may have deduced I AM PREGNANT!!!! Hurrah!
