"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library."

Blimey, it's a big doughnut on a stick! Officially the plans for the West Pier site weren't to be unveiled until 11am today, but they decided to leak to the Argus in advance. Not sure what I think yet... it's certainly dramatic. But I'll eat my hat if the opposition isn't rabid.
Edit: of course, I'd seen the picture already in The Guardian on Tuesday but that article is very careful not to mention WHERE the i360 is going to be built.
Let us give thanks for The Invisible Library. Surely the apotheosis of cataloguing for cataloguing's sake. At least, if there is a practical function for a list of fictional books and authors (i.e. ones that only appear in other books), I can't think of it just now. Heavenly.
I got so nervous/excited about the job interview yesterday that I temporarily forgot the crucial downside to the job: the salary was so low as to be a) insulting to the profession and b) impossible to live on. Fortunately I suppose, I didn't get it.
I've been so paranoid about missing opportunities that I think I have to apply for every job, but trying to finish my dissertation at the same time as preparing applications and stressing about interviews is not doing me any good. I think my new strategy is to ignore the job market entirely until May and focus on academic work alone (oh and on doing my actual job as well, much as I'd like to sideline it sometimes...)
