"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library."

As many before me have surely noted, shopping online for Christmas presents is a dangerous business. Things you want for yourself are forever popping up out of the ether. (You don't get the same thing from real life shops because at this time of year you just want to dive in, grab the festive socks and dive out again before being crushed to death by a million grannies wielding Primark bags like those big foamy things they used to have in Gladiators.) I've already bought myself this t-shirt:
and I haven't even CHOSEN gifts for half my family. Still, a new t-shirt always improves one's mental health, so really I'm doing them a favour as I'll be a nicer person to be around.

Book 68: The Madolescents by Chrissie Glazebrook
I think I might be getting old and reactionary (or it's just my latent goody-goody coming out), because I found myself thinking 'she can't do that! how naughty!' at several points in this book. A recommendation, perhaps. It's definitely a fun read if you like gutsy, oddball teenage heroines, but it's also a bit repetitive. So the story takes a while to get going because of all the almost identical fainting fits and funny turns the protagonist keeps having, most of them involving Baileys, petty crime and various body fluids.
