"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library."

Off to Seaford tomorrow for three days of intensive cooking and boozing, plus rare exposure to TV. No doubt Coronation Street will be plugging away at the same plot as last Christmas, and we'll watch TOTP with the subtitles on. Will probably avoid the queen's speech though as my gran is at my uncle's this year.

As this will probably be my last entry of 2004, here's some of the highlights of True Love and High Adventure's year:
January - saw an unusual variety of ladybird
February - students were particularly stupid
March to June - too busy working to blog? (seems improbable)
July - passed the first year of my MA, and so became half a librarian
August - punting, Brighton Pride and pornogami
September - camping adventures
October - new T-shirt
November - got mugged (more of a lowlight)
December - poetry reading and Christmas excess hurrah!

Ever feel in danger of thinking that the population is mainly composed of fluffy, rational, right-thinking liberals JUST LIKE YOU? If so, have a listen to
TalkSport after about 10pm. What a wake up call. It's bad enough that cockmunchers like Mike Dickin are allowed on the air, but it's the slew of inarticulate morons calling in to agree with him that makes me want to cry. It's not just that I disagree with every view put forward, it's more that neither the presenters nor the callers seem to have read a whole newspaper or engaged in a balanced debate in their lives. The dumb, reactionary agenda peddled by the Murdoch media (though ok Sky only has a small stake in TalkSport) scares me more than almost anything else at the moment :(

Meanwhile, the first Christmas presents have been opened during early celebrations in Streatham, including this marvellous addition to Matt's library:

We're going to be eating well this Christmas!
