"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library."

Dividing my brain between work and study is still making me crazy, but I have managed to compartmentalise to the extent that I'm only pissed off with one aspect at a time. So one day I'll be due to despair of my university job (academics are self-centred, demanding and useless; students are shallow, lazy and rude) and the next day it will be the turn of the MA (draining, impenetrable, guilt-inducing). Unfortunately they also exist in a symbiotic relationship: I can't give up work because I need the fee waiver for the masters and I can't give up the masters because I want to be able to get a better job.

Possible alternative: give up both and go and lie in a dark room with a flannel on my head until the world gets blown up/enters a new ice age/is fried to a crisp.
