"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library."

As you may have noticed, I've been fiddling about with my links recently (not a euphemism or anything to do with golf.) You may not have noticed. That's fine too. But if the linky goodness, the trueness of the love, and the highness of the adventure has pleased you since I got off my arse and starting blogging again, you can
nominate me for a Brighton & Hove Virtual Festival Web Award.

George Monbiot being, obviously, far more cogent than me on the subject of 4x4s. (I will get this bee out of my bonnet soon, don't worry...)

Well, this cheered me up: the
Christian Analysis of American Culture project, finding the sin in films so you don't have to. Their findings are put into categories such as 'wanton violence/crime', 'impudence/hate', 'sexual immorality' and 'offense to God'. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, for example, has no noted instances of sexual immorality, but OUTRAGEOUSLY it does have 'broom riding, repeatedly'. Meanwhile, The Day After Tomorrow contains 'homosexual song in background (Do You Really Wanna Hurt Me - Boy George)'. Oh, it's too easy to mock these sites, I know. But who said fun should be difficult?

So many things to get angry about, so little time...
4x4s in the spotlight in a piece confirming that 'in a collision, pedestrians are 75% more likely to be killed by an SUV than by a conventional vehicle'. And elsewhere in the same newspaper, the delightful spectre of Godfrey Bloom, new Ukip MEP. In normal circumstances I would find outdated views like his pretty harmless, ably refuted as they are wherever you care to look. But he is an elected representative of this country, and therefore I have spared the time to fume.

Is it childish to mouth 'cock' at every 4x4 I see? It's just that driving in the centre of Brighton is usually pointless and selfish even if you're NOT in something the size of a tank, and if you ARE... you should have ASBOs slapped all over you in my opinion. Sight of the month: a woman in a particularly hefty and shiny 4x4 almost driving into a tree because she was trying to take a corner and talk on her mobile at the same time. Matt is now on the local committee of Living Streets, who I'm sure have more constructive campaigns to suggest than silent swearing, but in the meantime... it pleases me.

Word fun site of the day:
antagonyms.

I am about to start my least favourite job of the summer, creating over a hundred folders of useless information for over a hundred useless students. Any suggestions for distractions MUCH appreciated.
