A sad end to a useful and important website. See also The Register's article. Let's support Matthew and the many users who can't access the truly awful Odeon site, by emailing info@odeonuk.com.

My favourite bit of
wemadeoutinatreeandthisoldguysatandwatchedus.com is definitely Statements Made In Casual Conversation That Sound Like Country Song Titles. I'm going to start playing this game in my own life in fact, as it would certainly liven up otherwise pointless water-cooler talk. Although, workplace interactions CAN be interesting: I spent some time yesterday teaching a student how to pronounce 'gobbledegook'.

Go me! I got 77% (a distinction in masters land I suppose) for my last term paper, the evil scary difficult one on disabled rights and ICT. Woo! I have thus passed my first year with, if not flying colours, then at least hovering ones.

Tonight, we shall eat onion pie.

Somewhat behind the bandwagon as usual, but you can now read them there
100 things about me.

I shared a bus with approximately 70 Italian teenagers this morning; thank god I wasn't hungover or my already delicate ante meridiem constitution may have collapsed altogether under the strain.

See, the gap in this blog was all YOUR fault after all, you demanding vultures!

I've got media fatigue at the moment, probably left over from last term when reading the papers and earnestly discussing globalisation and the information age was Work. However, a good antidote is
medialens.org. Trust no one, innit.

The consumption of starchy carbs at lunch is often at the root of the lull in energy many people experience in the mid- to late afternoon. Hell yeah, and I'm desperately trying to get out of my sandwich habit. But somehow, cold rice or salad or a lump of Quorn is just not appealing. I did ok today with cauliflower cheese, but ruined it all by eating a Mars Bar shortly afterwards. I have concluded that the modern office is simply not compatible with good eating patterns. 'Breakfast like a king, lunch like a lord and dine like a pauper' (or something). But the breakfast thing is impossible - getting to work on time is challenge enough without having to factor in cooking quails or kedgereee or whatever. And it's all downhill after the first hurried coffee as you struggle to consume enough calories to keep you from falling asleep at your desk, but without giving too much of your hard-earned cash to Pret a Manger or equivalent. By the time I get home I'm usually starving again, but a big meal at 8pm or later plays havoc with the digestion and the sleep. Sigh.

Ah, clubbing on a Thursday night. Like being a student all over again. Except that in all the excitement of
rubbish indie, I forgot that actually, I'm NOT eighteen. Consequently I spent most of Friday in bed, eating pizza, drinking Fanta, watching Louis Theroux DVDs, and reading David Sedaris. Mind you, having a day off on a Friday would have been a good enough excuse to indulge in the above activities even without the hangover, I think.

I'm so tired (again). Monday mornings are not improved by starting off with seagulls at 4am and then a train journey to work from Seaford, where I was stranded last night after predictable rubbishness from Stagecoach buses.
