Things That Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time #1: outdoor theatre. Oh yes, it's the perfect summer fantasy - sprawling on a blanket on a balmy evening, surrounded by elegant picnic items such as strawberries, champagne, smoked salmon and posh cheese, nodding appreciatively at the genius of Shakespeare and the romantic setting. The reality - it gets fucking freezing after 8pm, whatever time of the year it is; sitting on the ground for two and half hours makes you feel like you've been riding a camel all day; your picnic is actually a loaf of bread, some cheddar, tortilla chips and water; the people that make up the audience for outdoor theatre are by and large twats; and amateur dramatics, however good, are still amateur. 09:52 . . .
