"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library."

I think I've worked out the real reason that I use the Internet more at work than at home (and no, it's not because I'm lazy and cheap.) I hate hate hate Windows xp, specifically the teensy soft focus curves of the icons etc which are somehow incredibly patronising. I CAN take big scary boxy icons you know! I LIKE them boxy! They mean BUSINESS.

Today I bought two bottles of nail varnish of only microscopically different shades, despite not having any money. I blame Retro^Sec, whose blog has now been added to my links, as you can see. I also blame the forthcoming Sinister 5th birthday picnic, for making me obsessed with the colour red. Why stick to knickers when I can theme my whole outfit round shades of scarlet, cerise, strawberry, raspberry and crimson?

Right, off to search for cheap yet gorgeous shoes (red of course).

I remember when I used to look forward to getting real live land mail through my letterbox. Back when no credit card companies or mail order catalogues had my address, and when all my friends were writing to me about their adventures at university, or in India, or in the middle of nowhere working at B&Q. But let's examine yesterday's post: a random SECOND copy of the rejection letter from the library job (thanks guys); a letter from my doctor (I'll spare you the details); minutes of the last Lewes Live Literature meeting (an unpleasant reminder that I'd spent the evening telling them I didn't actually want to work for them any more); and a threatening letter from the TV licence people DESPITE the fact that we have always had a licence. This is not what I want to be greeting me at the crack of dawn, frankly. I DEMAND to be a lady of many letters again! Preferably those nice exotic airmail ones, perhaps with little presents inside?

I made a happy discovery yesterday lunchtime though, which was that you can get yummy Bagelman bagels on campus. Goodbye soggy tuna rolls and stale baguettes! Hello cream cheese, smoked salmon, black pepper and cute serving guys!

Mm... Can't beat Sundays spent in sofa-bound torpor induced by bad electropop, or Mondays spent guzzling chocolate and wine and watching Lord of the Rings.

Dragged my hangover to a marketing meeting for Lewes Live Literature this morning, but my mind started to wander (back to bed) when we got on to dividing up our mailing list into The Wine Audience (highbrow lit and jazz), The Beer Audience (lowbrow lit and folk), The Tea Audience (ladies who lit) and The Champagne Audience (doesn't exist yet but will have to be found for the sculpture exhibition next year otherwise we can't afford it.) I dread to think what the forthcoming website is going to look like if we have to target all these imaginary groups...
